Hey Troops –

In just one month, the Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum (WAAAM) in Hood River, OR (In the Columbia Gorge) will be having their annual fly-in. Many of you have been there, but for those who haven’t, it’s a real old-time fly-in – mostly for pilots, as opposed to a “show” for the public. There will be a lot of (300-400?) amazing antique aeroplanes, in addition to the Museum’s fantastic collection – which includes 5 FLYING OX-5 powered airplanes, and 100s of antique cars.

They have pilot breakfasts and dinners on the field, you can camp under your wing, or they have shuttles to the hotels in town.

Tall Tom Flies in from Colorado, and we end up doing quite a bit of formation flying – training, fun, rides, and photo flights.

Hotels in town sell out early, but I did find rooms available at the Hampton Inn right on the Columbia River, as well as at the Holiday Inn Express:

WE TRY TO GET SOME RESERVED PARKING, so we can easily get in and out over the weekend to fly our formation flights. To do that, we need an idea of WHO’S PLANNING TO COME.
SO, if you think you are wanting to join the fun in Hood River (and I highly recommend it!!), let me know and give me an idea of what days you think you’ll be there.

Make your own hotel reservations, or bring a tent.

Hope to see you there!

– Dave
