Cascade Warbirds CO John “Smokey” Johnson set off this week in his T-6 for San Diego, the first of many steps to secure passage for himself, his crew chief, and his T-6 to Pearl Harbor on board USS Essex. A number of WWII-era aircraft and their crews will be transported to Honolulu to participate in celebrations commemorating the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II.

We wish Smokey the best on this once-in-a-lifetime experience and opportunity to honor our remaining WWII veterans!
